One Event Licences ~ Frequently Asked Questions

Please remember these important messages...
  1. Picking up a fallen rider - this was highlighted by our Medic Team at riders briefing as being something that must not be done!  You must let the child get up onto their feet on their own or at least let one of the medics come and check the kid out before you move him or her. It is our natural instinct to pick your child up immediately after a crash, but you risk causing greater injury.  So please don’t do this!  Let the child get up under his or her own steam.

  1. Flag marshals - we will not start a race until we get all the flags manned and a helper close by the flag marshal to assist with any issue. Not everyone likes to do this job, but we need your help with this one as it’s not the job of a select few to always be out on a flag.  All we ask is that you take the time and man a flag for a few races each weekend and this will greatly help us run a smooth and fun day for all to enjoy.  Best to man a flag when your child is not racing, that way you get to enjoy your child's race and allow others to watch their child's race. Always remember, when manning a flag you should be looking at the kids riding away from you.  It’s your job to warn the riders approaching you of any danger ahead – stay on the flag and leave sorting the problem out to others. And yes, you can move out onto the track if you need the kids to slow down due to a major obstacle.  If you are unsure of what else is required, just stand with a flag marshal during a race and watch what they do… and ask questions!!

All that said we would like to take the time to thank those who help us out on race day.
Manning flags (some round after round) and taking the track down after racing is over.
These a both big jobs and we truly appreciate your help.

Always remember, those that run the club only do it for the love of the kids and the passion of the sport, and like you all, love to see our kids have fun!  We need your help to make this happen and trust we can all work together to make this the best Motocross club in the “WORLD” .

AND A COUPLE MORE REMINDERS...

Licences and Log Books
Thank you to everyone for your efforts with completing the Helmet information in your log books, for those of you that were/are still trying to locate the information the following are the details from the MNZ Rule Book.

COMPETITION HELMET STANDARDS:
All new helmets available in New Zealand are manufactured overseas. These are
made to various standards. The following standards acceptable for helmets for use
in MNZ events.

Off Road
AS/NZS 1698:2006
Europe ECE 22-04 or 22-05, ‘P’, ‘NP’ or ‘J’
Japan JIS T 8133 : 2000
USA SNELL M 2000 or M 2005

If your standards code is not one of the above then it doesn’t comply with the MNZ requirements or more likely you haven’t yet found the correct details.  As we suggested to many at the club day to contact the supplier you purchased the helmet from or if purchased  it sometime ago you can always try to Google the make and model (this worked for me).

With the new licences please ensure that you bring both the log book and the Licence.  If the Licence Card is not in the log book or is forgotten then you may be required to purchase a day licence.

Also for new members that have not had a licence in the past.  When putting in your application for your child’s first MNZ licence it should be done manually as you will need to send in their birth certificate with the application.  Also if you are applying for licences for two or more children you can only apply the appropriate discount by completing your application manually.  Licence applications can be printed via the clubs website or direct from the MNZ website.

Age Restrictions
These are the classes that North Harbour are currently running on race day, there are age restrictions imposed by MNZ and followed by the club.  So when deciding which class your child is to race in you need to take into consideration their age, as any children outside of the following ages listed will be unable to ride in that class.

8-11 (u12) years up to 100cc ATV
7-11 (u 12) years Trail
7-8 (u 9) years 65cc
9-11 (u12) years 65 cc
Division 2 50cc 6-8 (un 9) years
Division 1 50cc 4-8 (un 9) years
50ccATV 4-8 (un 9) years

85cc Junior Novice - we are currently in the process of reviewing the criteria for racing in this class and more information will be provided in due course.  However we will no longer be accepting new riders to the club wishing to ride in this class that are aged 13 years or over.

If you are unsure as to what bikes are eligible to ride in the above classes this information can be located HERE

And a final reminder to everyone that we do not permit dogs at club events. This includes any visitors you may have that bring dogs with them.  We identified three dogs at the last event (despite the sign at the gate stating no dogs allowed) and spoke with the appropriate owners.  We haven’t had any problems with this for sometime.  So please be aware that turning up to an event with a dog will require you to take the dog home if you wish to stay.  Dogs are not to be locked in cars for the day something I am sure that the SPCA would take a dim view of.

The reasons for this are simple the first being a safety issue - dogs on the track could cause a major incident.  And secondly the properties  that we use are generally farms with stock and farmers take a dim view of other peoples dogs on their properties.  So to ensure we are welcome back we have a ‘NO DOGS RULE – NO EXCEPTIONS’.

Please make sure that all dogs are left at home and if anyone you know is likely to turn up to an event with a dog advise them not to bring it.

Thanks

 Secretary
